Huaguo Elite Team's Foshan Tongji and Lantern Festival Celebration

The fifteenth day of the first lunar month is the Chinese traditional festival - Lantern Festival. 36 members of Huaguo Company's Business Quality Assurance and 31st Reserve Cadre Elite Team participated in the Tongji procession that evening, carrying windmills and lettuce. In addition to experiencing Foshan's traditional Lantern Festival culture, this event was also organized to carry Huaguo's best wishes for a successful 2017.

Windmills, lettuce, and Huaguo's exclusive flags made the reserve cadre team particularly eye-catching in the crowd.
In Foshan, the most popular Lantern Festival activity is walking across Tongji Bridge. The proverb “Walk Tongji, no worries” is well-known in Foshan, meaning that walking across Tongji Bridge brings good fortune and smooth sailing. This folk activity carries the best wishes of the people of Foshan. On the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, no one organizes this event; people from Foshan, and even nearby towns and villages in Nanhai, Sanshui, Gaoming, and Shunde, spontaneously participate. This custom has been around since the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, with families of all ages participating from dawn till dusk, carrying windmills, shaking wind chimes, and carrying lettuce, walking from north to south across Tongji Bridge. This tradition has continued for over 400 years.

Passersby watched and took photos of the reserve cadre team.
The company's Business Quality Assurance and 31st Reserve Cadre Elite Team entered the crowd on Tongji Bridge in an orderly manner. When we arrived, there were already thousands of people. We could feel the enthusiasm of the people celebrating the Lantern Festival; the scene was filled with a strong festive atmosphere. To avoid scattering in the crowd, our elite team spontaneously formed a single file line, holding each other's shoulders. This not only ensured our team's smooth progress but also helped the surrounding crowd to walk across Tongji Bridge in an orderly manner, as if opening a path to hope. (At this moment, I silently gave a thumbs-up to our team.)
Therefore, the Tongji procession, which was originally estimated to take 2-3 hours for 800,000 people this year, was completed by our team in just 1 hour.
After leaving the bridge, we went to the lettuce pool in an orderly manner, where crowds had gathered. Our team walked around the lettuce pool, experiencing the atmosphere of people throwing lettuce to pray for wealth. We did not throw our lettuce; it is said that this means "attracting wealth home." Team members said they would bring the wealth back to Huaguo "everyone".

The reserve cadre team arrived at the core area: Tongji Bridge archway.
Just as we were about to finish walking around the lettuce pool, the team leader suddenly saw many volunteers from the Foshan Charity Association. Our team had wanted to join the volunteers (but couldn't due to time constraints), so they spontaneously donated money from their pockets into the volunteers' donation bags. (Listening to the volunteers repeatedly saying "Thank you," I gave another thumbs-up to our team.)

The reserve cadre team spontaneously participated in the on-site donation activity.
After the donation, the Tongji Bridge trip was coming to an end. The Huaguo reserve cadre elite team members all had happy smiles on their faces. This was their first time representing the Huaguo team in the Tongji procession, and everyone was very satisfied.
(After the event, I felt like I was a member of the elite team, haha.)
